This Old Dog Learns New Tricks: Mercury on YouTube

This has been a big week for local goings-on. Taped Mercury, visited Helen and Charlie’s exhibit opening, joined a great discussion on immigration issues and upcoming related ballot measures and attending the Netarts Oceanside Sanitary District Citizen’s Advisory Committee meeting. I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings by telling you which was the most fun, and which was the most contentious, but I was glad to miss none of them.

Today the most fun I had was posting Eric and Molly Sappington’s “ Do It All Over Again” on YouTube. Hearing them live or getting your hands on their new CD when released next month (more on that later) is the best, but sharing a glimpse of their music and exquisite harmonies to far-flung corners of the universe is something worth sharing.  As with many independent artists (“Indies”), the joy is in the creating and sharing.

“Mercury” Rises

MercurySunday morning held a great session of “Mercury” live music and live taping. It was not the quiet winter low-volume coffee shop kinda morning we’d figured when we planned it on a dark and empty morning a few weeks ago. A good crowd was in town for the holiday weekend, some to attend a local fund-raiser the evening before. We had a good selection of kids too to jump in and dance for the kids’ tune (something about something blowing up or over or something – great fun but I was busy hyperfocusing on not knocking over the tri-pod) and Molly’s parents were visiting too.

“Mercury” Plans New Album Release

Early Sunday morning the advance team (that would be my husband) had visited Brewin’ in the Wind and bumped into Eric Sappington. We returned together to enjoy Eric on guitair and harmonica over a fabulous fritata breakfast croissant (one hard-to-spell breakfast) and learned that Eric and Molly – together the group
